Terms of use and community rules

These terms cover your use of $YOU and its optional network. The app is licensed to you under Apple's Standard End User License Agreement, together with these terms. By joining the network you agree to them, and the app asks you to agree again whenever the rules change.

1. What $YOU is

$YOU is a journal and a game. Your price is a way of looking back at your days. It isn't money, and nothing in the app is financial, investment or medical advice. Health features are for general wellbeing only.

2. Play money

$STOCKS uses play money only, and it has no cash value. Everyone starts with $10,000, and checking in and ticking habits pay more into the game. A player under $1,000 can start over with a fresh $10,000, once a week, or any time with $YOU Deluxe; starting over replaces what you had and never adds to it, and play money can't otherwise be bought. Play money you've earned above the starting $10,000 can also buy outfits in the $YOU shop, and inviting friends or checking in with your league can earn more. It can't be withdrawn, transferred or exchanged for anything else. Shares in other people are play-money positions in a game, not securities.

3. Community rules (zero tolerance)

You're responsible for the tickers, names and index fund names you create, and the days you publish. Don't post or create:

• objectionable content: anything hateful, sexual, violent, threatening, discriminatory or illegal;
• harassment, bullying or abuse of anyone;
• anything pretending to be another person, or a real company or brand;
• spam or fake accounts;
• attempts to cheat the public price or manipulate leagues and index funds.

4. Reporting, blocking and enforcement

• Tap … next to anyone, or press and hold them, to report or block them.
• Blocking someone removes them from everything you see, and removes you from everything they see. Any shares either of you holds in the other are paid out at the current price.
• Reports are reviewed within 24 hours.
• Names are filtered, and objectionable ones are rejected.
• A ticker reported by three people is hidden automatically until it's reviewed. Shares in it keep their value but can't be bought or sold until then.
• We remove content that breaks these rules, and may suspend or delete the account behind it without notice.

5. Your content

What you publish stays yours. You give us permission to store it and show it to other people on the network, only to run the service. When you remove it or delete your account, it's gone.

6. Ending

You can delete your network account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms.

7. Disclaimers

$YOU is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from using the app.

8. Changes

We may update these terms. We'll change the date above, and the app will ask you to agree to new community rules before you carry on using the network.
